Importing from Day One

Moving from Day One? You can bring your whole journal across:

  1. In Day One, export your journal as a JSON or ZIP archive.
  2. In Mianote, open the import option and choose that file.
  3. Your entries, photos, places, and dates are imported and preserved.

If anything looks off after an import, email us the details and we will help sort it out.

Exporting your journal

Your writing is never trapped. From Mianote you can export your full journal at any time, free, as PDF, plain text, JSON, or original media. We recommend keeping your own periodic exports as a backup.

App lock and privacy

Mianote can require Face ID, Touch ID, or your passcode every time the app opens. Your entries are end-to-end encrypted on your device, so only you can read them. You can turn the lock on in the app's settings.

Sync across devices

Encrypted sync keeps your journal in step across iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Your content is synced in a form we cannot read. If a device is not showing your latest entries, make sure it is signed in and connected, then reopen the app.

Managing your subscription

Mianote offers a free trial, then a subscription or a one-time Lifetime purchase. Subscriptions are billed through your Apple account. To view, change, or cancel a subscription, open Settings > your name > Subscriptions on your device. Refunds are handled by Apple through reportaproblem.apple.com.

Deleting your data

You are always in control of your data. Delete individual entries inside the app, or remove everything by deleting the app, which removes its local data from your device. If you use encrypted sync and want the synced copies removed too, delete your data from within the app or contact us and we will help.
